Mother's Day Weekend

The weekends festivities were certainly the highlight of my week. With the exception of this ridiculous cough I can't seem to shake, the weekend was more than delightful. Friday I proved my soccer skills aren't what they once were haha. It seems that I may need to practice my shooting. Or perhaps the lack of balance was the issue this week because I spent half the first game on my backside. I had back to back games and ended up with 1 win and 1 loss (should have won both). After the games Joshua and I headed to Applebee's to meet a long time girlfriend of mine for dinner. Joshua must have really liked the woman next to us because he finally decided to start waving. I've been working on this with him for months now.

Saturday was the day I was really looking forward to. I started the day by taking Joshua to his Grammy's house to give her the mother's day card he made. Then we took our weekly trip to the grocery store where Joshua felt the need to open everything imaginable that he could eat in the store. He had grapes, milk, animal crackers, and a strawberry. Guess he was hungry lol. I picked up some steaks and a bottle of wine and took it home to grill while Joshua napped. It was my very first time grilling steaks and I must say, I make a mean Ribeye! After dinner we got ready for the evening's events and headed to Ann's house for Kyle's going away party. Kyle is going to the Navy. As usual Joshua was a big hit. We all sat around drinking a few beers and laughing the night away. I wish we could have spent more time with Kyle before he leaves but Crystal's birthday celebration was the same night so I had to join them at Austin Avenue for a few hours before heading home.

I don't know what it is about Austin Avenue (in Richardson), but I REALLY dislike this place. It is over run with the most ghetto people I have ever seen, I swear these people don't live in Richardson. It's like South Dallas moved up stream. The patrons are ridiculously rude. I am pretty sure they either left their manners at home or were never taught how to say excuse me or the likes there of. I also discovered at this place that I really dislike hardcore rap music. I like the poppy style of rap but the real grind down raw rap... totally NOT my thing. It actually ruined my mood and I couldn't wait to go home. Finally, around 1am we headed home.

Let me just start by saying when your 15mo old son decides to sleep until almost 10:00 AM... that is a great Mother's Day. Once Joshua finally woke up we got ready and headed to church. Matt gave a nice sermon on Colossians 2:1-10. After church we had lunch at this great little Italian place that we haven't been to since I was so pregnant I was willing to eat Eggplant Parmesan to try and induce labor. (It didn't work by the way). After lunch we headed home and Joshua and I laid down for a nap. This ended up being a 3 HOUR nap! When I woke up there was a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the counter along with two cards and a pink gift bag. The flowers and cards were from Joshua and the gift bag was from my mom. She got me a Willow Tree Mother Son Statue. (I love these things).
Around 8:00 we finally got over to the in-law's house so Joshua could give his other Grandma the card he had made for her too. Joshua and Papa played a little and then Grandma gave Joshua a Stargazer Lily to give to me. It was the cutest thing. Joshua had it in his hands and kept stopping to smell it and then walked up to me and reached out his hand and gave me the flower. Then he gave me a hug. This child just sends my heart to places I never knew it could go. I am so thankful that the Lord blessed me with the beautiful son I have and the wonderful husband to put the icing on the cake. God does great things for his children.
